DYMAM CONCRETIZES PLAN FOR CULTURAL AND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM

The Development Youth Movement Assembly in Mindanao (DYMAM), a member organization of the Alliance of Bangsamoro for Peace and Sustainable Development, Inc.(ABPSD, Inc.) and lead organization in the ABPSD-Partnership on Youths Affairs for Development are conducting series of meetings and dialogues at the ABPSD Conference Room in Cotabato City, started last March 15, 2009. The officers of the association and its affiliates shared issues on the educational development in the Bangsamoro homeland. Initially, the group had established four (4) arabic schools (Madrasah) with the following sites: (1) Barangay Dicaya (Katidtuan), Kabuntalan (Mother), Maguindanao; (2) Sitio Kakar, Barangay Katidtuan, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao; (3) Barangay Lower Bager, Pigcawayan, Cotabato; and (4) Barangay Rosary Heights (Mother) in Cotabato City; and "Halaqath" -Qur'anic Memorization in Poblacion (Mother) and Kalanganan 2, Cotabato City. Further, for the cultural development initiatives, the DYMAM organized its "Cultural Group", named as "Mga Nguda Sa Inged" - "The Youths of the Place".

The group (DYMAM) started their program with limited resources from the members pocket and utilized their members (qualified brothers and siters) for the needed staffs in the operation of the arabic schools. Later, the group requested support from the mother organization. The ABPSD, Inc. provided the group with technical support , such as exposing the group into community development activities, trainings and conferences; and minimal material support.

With the group experiences in the past operations, they decided to digest and improve the organization programs and activities, where the series of meetings and conferences are conducted. From that, they agreed to improve the instruction of the madrasah, capacity building for the asatids (teachers), physical facilities and school-community relations as a means to improve the learning processes for the pupils. Further, the formation of the "Mga Nguda Sa Inged" basically founded on the cultural development of the Bangsamoro people, designed an advocacy program through indigenous music. The group acquired some musical instruments for the advocacy program funded from the members' contributions. In furtherance, the group is working for the acquisition of additional musical instruments and documentation of the composed musics.

CCARE MAGUINDANAO COORDINATOR CONDUCTED ASSESSMENT SURVEY

The Project Management Committee of the Citizens Coalition for ARMM Electoral Reform-Maguindanao(CCARE-Mag) headed by the Alliance of Bangsamoro for Peace and Sustainable Development, Inc. with the CCARE Maguindanao Coordinator, Mr. Bobby Taguntong is conducting an assessment survey in some municipalities in MaguindanaoProvince, in response to the initiative for improving the governance of coalition and enhancement of the program, targetting 5-10 years beyond the 2010 elections.

The Provincial Coordinator is bringing with him the tools (Guide Questions and Questionnare) as his guide in conducting the assessment activities. The activity will be conducted in order to obtain information and data, useful as an inputs to the coming "CCARE Strategic Planning Conference" to be held in Zamboanga City, this coming May 1-4, 2009.

Further, the Provincial Coordinators of Shariff Kabunsuan, Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Sulo and Tawi-Tawi are doing the same, conducting assessment activity in their respective provinces. They are also utilizing the same questionnaire for collecting information and data, which the results will be submitted for the coming strategic planning conference.

As a result of sharing and brainstorming meetings conducted by CCARE -Central Office, headed by Chairman Salic Ibrahim with the members of the Board of Trustees from the provinces in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, the above-named activities
was formally concluded and to be conducted.

ABPSD LAUNCHING ITS COCONUT PLANTING ACTIVITIES

The Alliance of Bangsamoro for Peace and Sustainable Development, Incorporated, an umbrella organization of local NGO's, PO's and Cooperatives in Mindanao is conducting the launching activities on "Coconut Planting" at the different nurseries established. On April 12, 2009, the Project Management Office had launched the coco planting activities at Sitio Mamisel, Barangay Kulambog, Sultan Sa Barongis for the member organizations at its Rajah Buayan District. It was attended by Dr. Pendatun A. Pangadil, the Executive Director / CEO of the ABPSD, Incorporated. Planters and growers coming from different barangays of the Municipalities of Sultan Sa Barongis and Rajah Buayan in the Province of Maguindanao attended the activity and committed to support the development initiatives started by the Alliance of Bangsamoro for Peace and Sustainable Development, Incorporated.

In furtherance, the ABPSD Iranun District launched the coco planting activities last April 14, 2009 at Barangay Gadong, Barira, Maguindanao, while they were holding a "Seminar Workshop on Cultural Management of Vegetable Production", an activity conducted as part of the capability building activities for women's group in the district. The activity was attended by personalities from the DAF-ARMM. It was followed by the launching program conducted by the Project Management Office with Professor Kedza M. Ukas, the Project Coordinator for the special project at Sitio Leneba, Barangay Sibuto, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao.

The launching program on coconut planting is continuously being conducted for other established nurserseries in different areas in Central Mindanao and Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, where the ABPSD Kablalan District will very soon to hold also the launching activities for coconut planting. Actually, the ABPSD, Incorporated had established eight (8) coconut nurseries in Central Mindanao and ARMM.

The launching program on coconut planting is a part of the activities on the partnership of the Alliance of Bangsamoro for Peace and Sustainable Development , Inc. on its program on "Ligawasan Coconut Development Program" and the Coconut Industry Investment Fund (CIIF) on its "Coco Farm Development Program".

After the launching program on coconut planting, the member organizations of the ABPSD, Incorporated are looking forward for furtherance of development activities, particularly on the inter-cropping engagement, viewing also the windows for marketing the products.




RAJAHMUDA DALGAN CLAN REUNION

On April 8-11, 2009, the descendants of the sons and daughters of the Great Leader in the Sultanate of Rajah Buayan Darrussalam, Rajahmuda Dalgan (Rajahmuda Sa Tabungao)-the elder son of Great Sultan Bangon Sa Didagen Bin Sultan Maitem (Sultan Maguindanao - the known datu of the "T'lo A Inged (3 Kingdoms) had their "1st Clan Grand Reunion" held at the residence of His Highness Rajah Buayan Sa Buayan Datu Namla Dalanda Dalgan - the crowned Rajah Buayan Silongan II Sa Buayan. The memorable activity has a theme, stated as follows: "KAGKIKILALAY, KADSUSUPEGA NU PAPAGALIYA ENDO KAADEN NA ATULAN NU KADSUSULED" - meaning, "Fellowship, Unity /Closeness of Kins and Structuring Activities of the Descendants". The descendants of the Rajahmuda Dalgan came from his 19 sons and daughters, named as the following: (1) Bai Mananalen, (2) Rajah Alam Pendatun, (3) Bai Maputi-A-Laga, (4) Bai Sinibai, (5) Datu Malang, (6) Datu B'lolot, (7) Datu Agong, (8) Datu Lumenda, (9) Datu Badal, (10) Bai Sinalong, (11) Datu Laguiab, (12) Datu Inidal, (13) Bai Mabay, (14) Datu Saliento, (15) Datu Kulikot, (16) Bai Matampiles, (17) Bai Kabiba, (18) Datu Sabal, and (19) Bai Lampana.

Prior the Clan Grand Reunion, the Grand Rajah Buayan Sa Buayan Silongan II, Datu Namla D. Dalgan called the attention of all the descendants of their forefather, Rajahmuda Dalgan for a simple meeting among the representatives. Desicion to have the Clan Grand Reunion was agreed after long sharing and fellowship between and among them. Then, it was followed by series of meetings agreeing among others the mechanics of the activity, spearheaded by Sultan Datu Norodin Dalgan Utto, the representative of the Datu Malang descendants; Sultan Datu Alonto Dalgan Sultan - representative of Bai Maputi-A-Laga descendants and Dr. Pendatun Balimbingan Alon Dalgan Pangadil, representative of the Rajah Alam Pendatun.

The activity was highlighted by the presence of the Rajahmuda Dalgan's 19 sons and daughters' descendants who fashioned their willingness and enthusiasms on the very first time clan activity, held in the part of the known and historial area of the Sultanate of Rajah Buayan Darrussalam. Further, the presence of the known relatives from the descendants of brothers, sisters and cousins who shared times and efforts for the smooth conduct of the activity.

Significant activities were conducted for the 3 days period, includes the following: Opening Program with special participation of the relatives, responses to the speeches of speakers, presentation of the members of the clan as per son and daughter, individualized fellowship, offering of kanduli (food), and Closing Program. In the following day (April 11), the representative of each of the sons and daughters of the Rajahmuda Sa Tabungao were present for the "Strategic Planning Activity". (Dr. Pangadil)

ABPSD EXEC ATTENDED KFI BOARD MEETING

The ABPSD CEO, Dr. Pendatun Alon Pangadil, being a member of the Board of Trustees of the Kadtuntaya Foundation, Incorporated (KFI) held May 10, 2009 at the Conference Room of the KFI Community Training and Resource Center in Cotabato City. There are six (6) members of the board who attended with the Executive Director Guiamil M. Alim as ex-officio member, who had just returned from medication in Manila and the Secretariat. The meeting was called, supposed to be conducted last January 2009, however it was canceled due to unavoidable circumstances that traversed the KFI environment, then proceed this time with several things to be decided.

Furtherance of the KFI programs was discussed and duly digested, where the project management office seek the approval of the board, hence the members of the board had no objections to the proposed activities of the foundation. Similarly, they also discussed continuity of the previous programs and projects, funded from different sources , the international funding institutions. The meeting was smoothly conducted.

ABPSD - PAD Meeting for furtherance of CIIF Partnership

The ABPSD - Partnership on Agriculture for Development is conducting a special meeting today, May 8, 2009 at the ABPSD Conference / Session Hall purposely to discuss the possible mechanism addressing the organization partnership with the Coconut Industry Investment Fund (CIIF) of the Department of Agriculture (DA). The CIIF provided already the pledged inputs for the establishment of a Coconut Nursery at Sultan Sa Barongis, Maguindanao. ABPSD in placed the nursery and expanded to other municipalities, such as Datu Odin Sinsuat, Pandag, Sultan Kudarat, Sultan Mastura and Barira, all in Maguindanao Province, including 1 in Municipality of Pikit, Province of Cotabato.

Initially, the orgnization had already launched the planting activities for few sites, and furtherance of the activities, the ABPSD-PAD is having a meeting discussing among others the following: (a) Areas to be planted per municipality, (b) CB for the coconut growers, (c) Possibilities of intercropping activities, and (d) Adoption of mechanism for planting and management of the engagement by coming days, months and even years.

ABPSD FINALIZES A CONCEPT PAPER ON LIGUASAN MARSH INTERVENTION

The ABPSD-Partnership on Environmental Governance for Development had conducted series of small group meetings purposely to conceptualize possible intervention on the environmental management of the eco-systems in the Liguasan Marsh. Forester Sanggacala A. Abdula, the In-charge of the above-named technical office of the Alliance of Bangsamoro for Peace and Sustainable Development, Inc. went to the office of Dr. Pendatun A. Pangadil, the executive director of the organization last April 29, 2009 and discussed with him the possibilities of adopting interventions for the Liguasan (Ligawasan) Marsh. Indept discussion was transpired, where the profiling of the target communities is included as component of the activities to be undertaken.

The Liguasan Marsh is a body of water located in Central Mindanao, covering part of Region XII and ARMM. It played significant roles in the cultural development in the locality, where summing-up the processes of acculturation in the past centuries, resulted in the formation of the "Sultanate of Rajah Buayan Darussalam" and even the Sultanate of Maguindanao Darussalam". Therefore, it is important that the present generation must have to do something for the preservation and reconstruction of the eco-systems within the Liguasan Marsh.

Finally, after series of discussion the group agreed for the finalization of the concept paper on the "Reconstruction of Mt. Kabalukan, a component part of Liguasan Marsh for the conservation of biodiversity in the localities , renewal of the lost socio-cultural practices among the stakeholders including initiative for eco-tourism development". From these, the Project Management Office of the Alliance of Bangsamoro for Peace and Sustaianable Development, Inc. is seeking for supports.

ABPSD at Liguasan Marsh

The Alliance of Bangsamoro for Peace and Sustainable Development, Incorporated - Partnership on Trade and Industry for Development (ABPSD-PTID) with the ABPSD Northern Ligawasan District had jointly engaged with the local residents of Ligawasan in the Municipalities of SSB and Pagalungan, Maguindanao and Pikit in Cotabato Province. Other than the usual livelihood means of the stakeholders, they are collecting shells from the marsh as their secondary means of living. In order to extend help for the residents of the Ligawasan March the organization find ways to support them.

As part of development initiative, the ABPSD-PTID worked for the market door of such items / products and fortunately one of the contacts from Cebu City responded to the initiative. From that, the ABPSD-PTID started the activity for the collectors of shells, established and adopted initial mechanism for the entrepreneurship activities. The organization in-charge saw the significance of the program as it open the windows for partnership with other market. Then, it will be followed by a return transaction or bringing some items from Cebu City to Cotabato City and nearby provinces. Both the Ligawasan Marsh stakeholders and ABPSD-PTID are optimistic for further development of the engagement.

CCARE STRATEGIC PLANNING CONFERENCE

As furtherance of the Citizens Coalition for ARMM Electoral Reform (CCARE) existence, its officers and members of the Board of Trustees will be having a strategic planning conference in Zamboanga City, this coming May 1-4, 2009. Each province from the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao will be represented in the activity. Significant issues will be discussed, where as an inputs to the activity, the member networks are conducting assessment survey to obtain necessary information and significant data to be presented in the conference.

The conference is generally aiming at the adoption of relevant programs for 5 to 10 years period, whereby starting to determine the development that transpired during the time when there was no CCARE yet and the presence of CCARE.

It is clearly observed that the present program of CCARE are the following: (a) Education and Information Campaign, (b) Capability Building, (c) Monitoring and Networking. All are focused on Election Reform in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.


Further, the activity is expecting to adopt plan of activities even beyond the elections 2010. (ABPSD'ers)
